The 61st birthday of Union Coal minister and veteran director, Darsaka Ratna Dasari Narayana Rao, was celebrated amidst pomp and gaiety at his residence in Hyderabad yesterday. Speaking on the occasion, Dasari says, 'I am very happy that my fans, audiences and friends are celebrating my birthday in a grand manner like this. Several of my fans are lawyers, doctors and industrialists and others. They were inspired by my movies. They always guide me, giving timely suggestions. I am also very happy that all the 24 departments in the film industry celebrated Workers' Day or May Day on May 1st .I don't make any resolutions especially on my birthday.
He added, "I entered politics accidentally. Now I am serving the people to the farthest possible extent. I am planning to direct a film and also act in that film. For this, I need to take permission from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.' Talking about the new films, he says, 'I am ready to produce a film, if some one comes to me with a good story - but within in a limited budget and within a specific time. There should be a proper planning. Very soon I am planning to produce a film under the direction of MS Narayana.'
Speaking about small budget films, Dasari says, 'The service charge being collected by the government is meant for small budget producers. But because of the system adopted by the exhibitors, the benefit of the service charge is not benefiting the small producers. I spoke to the Cinematography minister in this regard. The government did what all it was able to for small producers. But the small budget films were not getting the actual benefits. The reasons had to be properly reviewed. The producers should be united and take unanimous resolutions.'
Among those who wished Dasari 'a Happy Birthday' include MP Chegondi Harirama Jogaiah, directors K Raghavendra Rao, Kodandarami Reddy, Mutyala Subbaiah, producer Ramanaidu, Mohanbabu, Jayasudha, TVD Prasad, music director Chakri, and others.
