Namitha takes after Vijayashanthi in Deshdrohi

Namitha is going to play a police officer in Desadrohi to be produced by GVH Prasad under the banner of Sridevi Cine Chitra. Santhi Chandra would play a key role. Producer says, “The film will have a young hero and KS Nageswara Rao is going to direct the movie. In fact, we prepared the story some three years ago keeping in view Vijayashanthi as the heroine. However, we could not complete the project. So, we searched for an alternative and found Namitha as the suitable heroine as the subject is evergreen. As the character is that of a police officer, Namitha has strived hard and reduced some 9 kgs by now and she has promised to shed three more kgs by the time we launch shooting."

The director says, “We have decided to bring it out as an action entertainer. The screenplay would be very impressive. The characters played by Brahmanandam and Ramireddy would also be important. We have plans to launch the shooting in the third week of April and would be wrapped up in the schedules that are to be taken up in May and June. We are planning to shoot the film in Delhi, Rajasthan, Chennai and Ramoji Film City."

Speaking on the occasion, Santichandra thanked the producers for giving him another opportunity to play hero under their banner. He said, “Earlier, I had played one of the heroes in Three brought under the same banner. Brahmanandam and Vadivelu are expected to play together in this film. The producer is making efforts to launch the shooting of the film by the end of April."

Namitha says, “I love doing action characters. I am taking special coaching in martial arts and I am happy to do risky fights if the producer permits me to do so. Vijayashanti is my role model for these kinds of roles and I be happy if I could do even 10 per cent of what she has done on the screen."
