Ragging an eye-opener for the society

Though ragging was initiated to enable the the seniors to get acquainted with the juniors, it went out of bounds and became an instrument to tease the younger ones. Ragging has become a crude game and many students who are unable to face their seniors are either forsaking their education or committing suicides.

The ragging theme has been given the shape of a story by T Prabhakar, who has earlier directed Batukamma. Ponugoti Rammohana Rao and Makkapati Chandrasekhar Rao, who earlier produced Batukamma under the banner of Kakatiya Films, have again come forward to produce Ragging with the same director.

Producers say, “The practice of ragging is not only causing concern to the students but also to the college managements and the parents as well. It is creating a lot of mental stress to everyone. We are going to explain the ill-effects of ragging through our movie."

Director says, “I visited several colleges and universities across the state, for an on the spot assessment of the facts on ragging. I have combined several real life incidents in my story. At the same time, we have added some commercial elements to present it in an attractive manner. The film would make the audiences, especially the students to rethink about this crude game. We are planning to introduce new faces in our movie."
