Telugu movie Damarukam is a socio-fantasy movie and it is one of the most awaited movies in Telugu. This high-octane action flick is considered as the highest budget movie in the acting career of Nagarjuna and it has been made a whopping amount of Rs 40 crores. The shooting of the film began on April 25, 2011 and the film unit has taken more than one and half year to complete its production.
Damarukam is inspired by the novel The Immortals of Meluha. Damarukam deals with the socio-fantasy elements. After 1000 years, Andhakasurudu takes birth again with supernatural powers and aims to control the panchabhutas - earth, sky, air, fire and water. He wants to keep the world under his control. A common man will fight against this Rakshasha with the help of Lord Shiva and saves the world.

Damarukam is a story about an auto driver named Mallikarjuna (Nagarjuna), who is in love with a girl (Anushka Shetty), who has supernatural powers. To get some powers, a batch of a villain (Ravi Shankar) tries to kill Anushka. Mallikarjuna takes the responsibility to save his love interest. How is this entire concept linked to Lord Shiva and Kaialsam? How does a common man fight against super powered evils, forms rest of the story.
Nagarjuna's performance is going to be the main highlight of film Damarukam. He is said to have performed some of dare-devil fights, which are sure to rock the audiences.
The second highlight of Damarukam is its special effects. The movie has 70 minutes of graphics work and the film goers will be spellbound to watch these breathtaking sequences created by amazing VFX graphics.
Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music for the film Damarukam, which has already got immense response and celebrated a platinum disc function. A couple of songs have been shot in beautiful locales in foreign countries like Switzerland and others. Sources say that DSP's songs are going to be another highlight of the film.
Actress Anushka Shetty's glamour is going to be another attraction in Damarukam. Sources from the production team claim that she is sure to impress viewers with the dance moves in song sequences.
