Actor Ram Charan Teja is all set to start shooting for the remake of 1974 Hindi classic Zanjeer starring Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan in the leads. Before beginning the filming, the Telugu star met Bollywood megastar at a studio in Mumbai and sought his blessing for the movie.
Thrilled Ram Charan Teja took to his Twitter page to share his
excitement over meeting Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan yesterday.
The Magadheera actor wrote, “Just met AB sir, took his
blessings.. And NOW zanjeer begins..yay! (sic).”
Zanjeer had become a super-hit movie by collecting Rs 6 crores at the Box Office in 1974. This film changed the trend from romantic films to action films. It also pioneered Amitabh Bachchan's new image of a brooding but explosive person, who fights back when cornered. Big B was known as 'The Angry Young Man'.
The new version of Zanjeer will be a bilingual project that will be made in Telugu and Hindi. Ram Charan Teja will play the male lead that was originally reprised by Amitabh, while Priyanka Chopra will essay the character of Jaya Bachchan. With this, Ram Charan Teja will debut in Bollywood, while Priyanka enters Tollywood.
