Krishna was addressing the media at a private function at Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad on Sunday, when the announcement of his retirement came. The Superstar said that he wants to retire from films and politics as his health does not permit him to work anymore. Meanwhile, he added that he wished to make the film Chatrpathi Shivaji, but it has remained as unfulfilled dream as he wants to stay away from acting.

However, Krishna began his acting career as a character artist. Later, director Adurthi Subba Rao cast him as one of the male leads in Tene Manasulu, which was a big success at the Box Office. Then onwards, there was no look back for this versatile star, who has won several awards, including the India's highest civilian honour Padma Bhushan (2009).

Having acted in more than 350 movies, Krishna has worked with several ace directors of the time, like Adurthi Subba Rao, V Madhusudhana Rao, K Viswanath, Bapu, Dasari Narayana Rao and K Raghavendra Rao. He has two sons Ramesha and Mahesh Babu, who has also become the Superstar.
