Born and brought up in Dehradun, she started her acting career with Telugu film Ishtam in 2001. Trained in Kathak and Rajasthani folk dance, she has also done several hit and hot item numbers. She is one of the most sought after actresses in five Indian film industries. Yes! She is none other than the glamorous girl - Shriya Saran.

Shriya Saran hogged the limelight with her second movie Santhosham (2002) starring Akkineni Nagarjuna, Prabhu Deva and Gracy Singh in leads. Shriya Saran teamed up with Nagarjuna in Santhosham (2002). She played a girl, who lets someone she loves go with another, but wins him back later in life. For her performance, she earned a nomination for the CineMAA Award for Best Actor - Female. With its huge success, the film gave her a good foothold in the Telugu industry. In 2004, Saran once again paired with Nag for another hit movie Nenunnanu, in which she played a student in classical singing.

VV Vinayak-directed flick Chennakesava Reddy is the third film of Shriya Saran. She appeared as the love interest of a sincere and dedicated police officer played by Balakrishna. The movie was one of the big commercial hits in her career.

She also performed the lead female role alongside Megastar Chiranjeevi in his 2003 Telugu film Tagore, which was screened at the International Indian Film Academy Awards. It was a big commercial success.
