Chandrasekhar Yeleti is one of the rare Telugu film directors, who have enjoyed both commercial success and critical acclaim for their films. Four years after the release of his movie Prayanam (2009), the ace director is coming back with his next directorial venture Sahasam, which stars Gopichand and Taapsee Pannu in leads.
Like his film Aithe, Sahasam is also inspired by a cover story published in an English magazine. The story is about how people moved from Pakistan to India during partition and how they had to fight court cases for their properties. The film is set in two time periods. The story is about an ATM guard, who wants to become rich and the movie throws light on partition in flashback.
It took just 45 minutes to set a concept and the story for the movie Sahasam, but to expand it to two hours fifteen minutes was the biggest challenge for him. Finally, Chandrasekhar was successful in preparing a script for the film with his team of writers like Prashanth, Sumalatha, Radhakrishna, Radhika and Sandeep Gunnam.
Sahasam is an action adventure, which also throws light on the treasure hunt. The director says that many films in Telugu have dealt with treasure hunt. But his film stands out different from them. It is the personal story of the hero, who goes after his own treasures. Chandrasekhar is very well aware of Gopichand's target audience. Keeping all aspects in mind, he has moulded the character of the hero.
