Independence Day Special: Patriotism In Telugu Movies

Tollywood is one of the biggest and oldest film industries of India, and it has the history of 83 years. Every year, Telugu film industry churns out the highest number of films and the number is second biggest after Bollywood. The industry explores most of the genres except one and that is films on patriotism. In recent years, younger generation of actors, directors and producers have hardly tried to make films with patriotism as backdrop.

A few patriotic Telugu movies like Vande Mataram, Naa Desham, Deshadrohulu have hit the screens in the past. These oldest films dealt with nationalism and were well received by film goers. Late veteran actor NT Ram Rao and Akkineni Nageshwara Rao used to work in films with patriotism as backdrop. They made sure that their films had at least one patriotic song. NTR's Bobbili Puli and Sardar Paparayudu had patriotic ferver.

Krishna's Alluri Sitarama Raju is one of most memorable patriotic movies and it has won National Award. In recent years, Kamal Haasan's Bharateeyudu, Venkatesh's Subash Chandra Bose and Balakrishna's Parama Veera Chakra and Srikanth's Mahatma had a scent of patriotism in them. Chiranjeevi's Tagore and Stalin and Pawan Kalyan's Komaram Puli also had patriotism interlinked with their story.

But it should be said here that most of the recent movies have failed to impress the audience. The main reason for it is due to the disproportinate mixture of forced heroism and patriotism to add commercial value to a movie. The modernisation and Western culture have also killed the interest about the patriotic values in the current generation.

We bring you the pictures and details of best patriotic movies in Telugu. Continue to see them in the slideshow.
