Bollywood actor-turned-producer John Abraham will act in the Hindi remake of hit Telugu film Mirchi. Directed by debutant Koratala Siva, Mirchi starred Prabhas, Anushka Shetty and Richa Gangopadhyay in the lead roles. Released in February this year, the film went on to become a Blockbuster at the AP Box Office. Now, the hottest hunk of B-Town has acquired the rights of Hindi remake from the makers.
In a statement to PTI, John Abraham, who is busy with a couple of projects, has confirmed that he has bought the remake rights of Mirchi and he would act in it. "I saw the film and loved it a lot. We have bought the rights of the film and are quite excited to remake it here in Hindi. I would be acting in the film too," John told PTI.
The actor adds that he is yet to finalise the details of other cast and crew for the Bollywood remake of Mirchi. John Abraham is currently busy shooting for his much-anticipated movies like Madras Cafe and Hamara Bajaj, which are produced by himself. Apart from this, he is also acting in other projects like Welcome Back and Dostana 2.

John Abraham, who started his acting career with Hindi movie Jism in 2003, has starred in more than 30 movies in 10 years and most of them are original movies. The hot hunk has always restrained himself from signing remake films.

Some of John's movies have been unofficial remakes of Hollywood films. His flicks like Salaam-e-Ishq, Taxi No. 9211 and Zinda have been described as unauthorised remakes of British film Love Actually, Hollywood film Changing Lanes and Korean film Oldboy respectively.

Director Priyadarshan was the first person, who made John to sign remake. The actor played a lead role alongside Akshay Kumar in a partial remake of his 1985 Superhit malayalam movie Boeing Boeing. Titled Garam Masala, the movie hit the screens in 2005 and became superhit at the B-Town Box Office too.

With Bollywood superstars like Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn scoring big success with remakes of South Indian films, John Abraham convinced about the importance of the remakes. So he signed to star in the Hindi remake of Gautham Menon's 2003 Tamil film Kaakha Kaakha. Titled Force, the movie went to become a Blockbuster at the Bollywood Box Office in 2011.

Now, John Abraham has shown interest in remaking Telugu film Mirchi in Hindi. The actor, who has watched the movie a couple of times, feels that the role of Prabhas is a tailor-made role for him. He feels that this movie will give him a new image in the industry.
