Maruthi's recent directorial venture Prema Katha Chitram (PKC) starrring Sudheer Babu and Nanditha in the lead roles, has become one of the big hit Telugu films of 2013. The movie, which is currently being remade in Kannada, may soon have a Hindi remake as well. The Tollywood filmmaker is keen to helm the Hindi version.
Maruthi has written and produced the film Prema Katha Chitram. He told IANS, "Talks are on for the Hindi remake. We haven't finalised anything on papers yet, but if it happens, and I happen to have the time, I might direct it. I'm interested to direct it, but I need to find time from my other commitments."
Telugu producer Adi Seshagiri Rao has acquired the remake rights of the film Prema Katha Chitram. He is expected to tie up with a big studio in Bollywood for the remake. The horror-comedy, directed by R. Ravi Kumar was one of the biggest low budget hits of the year. Reportedly made under a budget of Rs.2 crore, the film minted over Rs.20 crore at the box office.
Prema Katha Chitram, which released earlier this year, successfully completed a run of hundred days run at the box office. It features Sudheer Babu, Nandita, Praveen and Saptagiri in lead roles. The movie's Kannada version is titled Chandralekha, which stars Chiranjeevi Sarja and Shavi Srivastav in the lead.
