Ram Charan Teja's latest outing Thoofan, which is simultaneously made in Hindi, is a remake of 1973 Hindi action-thriller film Zanjeer. Set in the backdrop of oil mafia, the movie revolves around the life of a police office, who takes revenge against the brutal murderers of his family. Ram Charan and Priyanka Chopra are essaying the roles of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan portrayed in the original.
Along with Suresh Nair, Apoorva Lakhia, who is directing Thoofan, has written the story and screenplay for the modern version of Zanjeer. Sticking to the original theme, the director has made several changes in the script to suit the taste of present generation. He has also made use of adequate technology to make the film look quite different from the original and fresh to the viewers.
Vijay is an honest and powerful police officer. Teja, who is the gang leader of oil mafia, gets him jailed for six months on false charges. When Vijay is released from jail, he plans to take revenge against the gang. With the help of a girl named Mala, he decides to track down the killer of his family and punish them. How he avenges the death of his family will form the crux of this revenge drama.
