Director Harish Shankar's highly-anticipated Telugu movie Ramayya Vasthavayya, which hit the screens on October 11, has garnered mixed reviews and average ratings from film critics, who opine that Junior NTR's performance is the only saving gracing in the film. Many reviewers feel that it is a routine revenge drama and the director has done nothing, but laced the old story with some masala elements.
Nandu (NTR) is a college student, who is more involved in street fights than studies. He falls in love with Akarsha (Samantha). After winning her trust, he travels with her family for her older sister's wedding. There we get to know that Nandu is a man on a mission. He has a bad past and targets everyone, who caused pain to him. Besides direction, Harish Shankar has also written screenplay and dialogues for the film.
Ramayya Vasthavayya is a commercial entertainer. Junior NTR's performance, punch dialogues, S Thaman's trendy music and background score, Chota K Naidu's beautiful picturisation, a few humourous scenes and one-liners, brilliantly choreographed action and dance sequences are the main highlights in the film. The critics feel that the first half is quite enjoyable, but the movie hits the rock bottom with some tried and tested story, predictable plot and boring action in the second half.
The movie has been rated an average of 2.5 out of 5. Continue to read film critics' verdict on Ramayya Vasthavayya in the slideshow.
