Balupu starring Ravi Teja, Shruti Hassan and Anjali in leads, has received an overwhelming response at the USA Box Office in the first weekend. While Punjabi film Jatt and Juliet 2 topped the business chart in the country, the Telugu film has landed in the second place, beating the Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan starrer Ghanchakkar, which has graced the third position. The Gopichand Malineni-directed flick has become the biggest opener in the career of Ravi Teja.
Balupu fetched a good start in the USA and its business was much ahead of Ghanchakkar on its opening day. The movie witnessed huge growth on Saturday and Sunday. The movie has collected Rs 1.76 crores ($ 2,96,447) from 60 screens at the USA Box Office in its opening weekend. Whereas, Jatt and Juliet 2 and Ghanchakkar have minted Rs 2.31 crores ($ 3,88,759) from 41 screens and Rs 85.36 lakhs ($ 1,43,616) from 89 screens respectively.
However, Ravi Teja's previous releases were duds at the USA Box Office. In their opening weekend, his last outings like Daruvu, Devudu Chesina Manushulu and Sarocharu had collected Rs 25.74 lakhs ($ 46,327) from 27 screens, Rs 9.29 lakhs ($ 16,720) from 19 screens and Rs 14.87 lakhs ($ 27,052) from 22 screens respectively in the country. Now, his latest release Balupu has smashed all these records and become the highest grosser of his career.
