Telugu director P Sunil Kumar Reddy, who collaborated with novelist Balabhadrapatruni Ramani, says a relationship of mutual understanding between the director and the writer is equally important for the success of any film. The duo has come together for upcoming Telugu romantic-drama Nenem Chinna Pillana.
Sunil Kumar told IANS, "It doesn't matter who has penned the story of a film, but when a writer and director don't understand the soul of the story, it has adverse effect on the output. A director and his writer should share a mutually understanding relationship, be on the same page while working for the film."
The director feels that even a small misunderstanding will cost a lot for a film. Sunil Kumar Reddy added, "They should perceive the film together, agree upon changes and always be open to suggestions. One small misunderstanding and everything can go topsy-turvy."
Balabhadrapatruni Ramani is known for penning novels such as Mogude Rendo Priyudu and Evare Athagadu. His latest film Nenem Chinna Pillana features Rahul Ravindran and Tanvi Vyas in the lead roles. It is produced by D. Ramanaidu. Sunil Kumar Reddy furher said, "We sat together and discussed the story even before we started shooting. Ramani even gave me the freedom to make changes to the script, if needed."
