In recent months, Telugu audience have straightaway rejected all remake movies including Masala and Aha Kalyanam, which have bombed at the Box Office, but a few filmmakers do not seem to have learned any lesson from their failure. They still continue to follow the trend of remake. If we are to go by the latest buzz in the filmnagar, 2 States, which is the super-hit Bollywood movie of 2014, will be remade in Telugu soon.
Reports suggest that Prasad V Potluri of PVP Cinema, which is largest media capital house financing the needs of the Indian film industry, has bought the remake rights of Hindi film 2 States. It is said to be a bilingual remake simultaneously made in Telugu and Tamil. The producer believes that the Pan Indian appeal of the story will help the movie to do well at the Box Office. He is reportedly yet to finalise cast and crew for this remake.
The film 2 States is a romantic comedy film, which is based on Chetan Bhagat's 2009 best-seller novel of the same name. Produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala, the movie features Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. Made on a budget of Rs 40 crores, it has raked in Rs 140 crores nett at the worldwide Box Office in 35 days and is still getting decent response in many cinema halls across the globe. It has become the biggest money spinner and the highest grosser Bollywood film of the year 2014.
