Actress Charmi Kaur will soon be seen in upcoming Telugu women-centric film Pratighatana, which is one of the most-hyped Telugu movies. Director Thammareddy Bharadwaja says that she did not take any remuneration for the film, because she really loved the subject of the film, which is inspired by the Nirbhaya rape incident. Music composer MM Keeravani has also worked free of cost for it.
Talking to IANS, Thammareddy Bharadwaja said, "Charmi loved her character so much that she decided to do it free of cost. Keeravani wanted to offer his music as a tribute to Nirbhaya. I think this is their way of playing tribute to her." Charmi plays the role of a journalist in the film. The director added, "I think this is the most powerful role of her career. She fights for the victim and has some very strong lines to mouth. I'm sure the audience will be moved by her performance."
Thammareddy Bharadwaja's last directorial was Telugu romantic-drama Pothe Poni. The director, who is wielding the megaphone after six years, said that he will not take any long breaks hereafter. He said, "I have been busy with so many other commitments in the last few years. I won't take any breaks and keep myself occupied with films."
