Brahmanandam's son Raja Gautham, who tasted failures with Vareva and Pallakilo Pelli Kuturu, has left no stone unturned to make his latest outing Basanti a big hit at the Andhra Pradesh Box Office. Having released in theatres on February 28, the romantic action movie has got fantastic response from the viewers in the first weekend. The film has become the biggest opener for Gautham.
Directed by Chaitanya Dantuluri, Basanti opened to a wonderful response at the ticket counters on Friday. Gautham and Alisha Baig starrer registered an average of 65% occupancy in single screens across the state on its opening day. But it had a low amount of footfalls in multiplexes when compared to single screens. Overall, it fetched good numbers at the AP Box Office on the first day.
The business of Basanti was expected to go upwards on Saturday. But the film garnered mixed reviews from the critics and viewers, which affected the film and took down its collection on the second day. It failed to show improvements on Sunday too. The movie has collected Rs 10.25 crores nett at the AP Box Office in four days. Its breakup is Rs 3.20 cr on Fri, Rs 2.80 cr on Sat, 2.40 cr on Sun and Rs 1.85 cr on Mon.
The makers of Basanti, which has been made with a budget of Rs 15 crores, have shelled out a hefty sum on its promotion. However, the movie has almost recovered 70% of its production cost in four days and is expected to collect the remaining amount by the end of the first week at the Box Office.
