With no big releases either from Bollywood or from any other Indian languages, Akkineni family drama film Manam has once rocked at the ticket counters in America. In its second week, the Telugu movie has done superb collection at the USA Box Office and beaten the life-time business record of Mahesh Babu's 1: Nenokkadine. It has become the highest grosser Tollywood movie of 2014 in the country.
Manam, which had collected Rs 6.62 crores nett ($ 1,120,969) in the first week, continued to keep the bells ringing at the ticket counters across the country on its second Friday and maintained rock-steady throughout the week. In its second week, the film has collected Rs 1.71 crores nett ($ 291333) at the USA Box Office, taking its 14-day total to Rs 8.33 crores nett ($ 1,412,302).
Bollywood trade expert Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Manam [Telugu] is a SMASH HIT in USA. Collects $ 1,412,302 [Rs 8.33 cr] at the end of Week 2. Awesome! Day-wise details in next tweet..." He added, "#Manam [Wk 2] Fri $ 73,401, Sat $ 114,314, Sun $ 55,960, Mon $ 7,525, Tue $ 10,533, Wed $ 9,094, Thu $ 7,805. Total: $ 1,412,302 [Rs 8.33 cr]"
Mahesh Babu's 1: Nenokkadine, which has collected Rs 8.24 crores ($1,329,496) at the USA Box Office in its life time, was the highest grosser Telugu movie of 2014. Manam has beaten this record in just 14 days. Now, the Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya starrer is fasting heading to smash the record of Pawan Kalyan's Attarintiki Daredi, which is the all time highest grosser Telugu film at the USA Box Office.
