The young Akkineni scion, Akhil Akkineni's debut movie, Akhil co-starring Sayesha Saigal under the direction of V V Vinayak opened to mixed reviews on Diwali. It is known that the film carried great expectations among fans as well as moviegoers since it is the first ever film of Nagarjuna's son.
Industry insiders were also eager to know how Akhil would mesmerize the audience and take forward the Akkineni legacy. However, nothing came to the film's rescue and the it is running with deficits from the day 2. Akhil dropped drastically after day 2 and the Monday has become worse. The film, which released on November 11 on the occasion of Diwali, garnered huge figures on the opening day and has become the highest grosser among Akkineni films till date.
Also, Akhil managed to break the Day 1 record of Ram Charan's Chirutha, which holds the record for collecting highest amount of collections for a debut hero. Increased ticket rates have also come in favor of Akhil.
Akhil collected a total share of 14.61 Cr in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana alone while the total share of worldwide collections is 16.34 Cr after its first weekend. Going by the trade reports, the film might struggle to fetch at least 20 Cr by the full run. If so, the film will be an all time disaster with a loss of more than 20 Cr.
