Suhasini Mani Ratnam, who is known for her outspoken nature is once again in news, post her sensational comment on the present day heroines. Though her remark was something we often heard of, it is now grabbing many eyeballs since the actress has of late become famous for her controversial statements.
Talking to TOI, Suhasini opined that the present day actresses are just being used as props and glam dolls in the movies and has added that she feels lucky to be an actress of the 80's, when meaty roles were penned for female leads too.
"I think actresses like Radikaa Sarathkumar, Revathy and Saritha were all lucky to have acted in the 80s. We did some really strong characters back then. But now, actresses are just used as props. They are all so beautiful, talented and have such a wide exposure, but there are so few women-oriented roles. I guess the Hindi film industry is doing much better in those terms.
"Actresses like Vidya Balan and Kangana Ranaut have been playing strong characters. Though the north film industry is equally male-dominated as the south, the situation has only deteriorated here. Also, I think the girls are finding an easy way out and aren't really keen on doing strong characters.", said Suhasini.
However, this isn't the first time Suhasini is being vocal about her opinion on the female characters of the present day movies. She has expressed her say several times before, but it is only now people are reading between the lines.
