Sai
Dharam
Tej's
latest
horror
thriller
Virupaksha,
written
and
directed
by
debutant
Karthik
Dandu,
hit
the
screens
to
a
thumping
response
on
April
21.
The
movie
was
released
in
five
languages
all
over
the
country
and
a
few
parts
of
the
world.
Upon
its
theatrical
release,
the
movie
was
met
with
a
positive
response.
Virupaksha
marks
the
first
biggest
hit
in
terms
of
openings
and
business
in
Sai
Dharam
Tej's
career.
The
actor,
who
sustained
a
major
accident
is
back
in
his
form
physically,
and
now
with
a
successful
comeback,
there
is
no
stopping
the
youngster.
In
a
candid
interview
ahead
of
Virupaksha's
release,
Sai
Dharam
Tej
spoke
at
length
about
his
experience
on
filming
for
a
horror
movie.
He
revealed
that
he
doesn't
enjoy
horror
films
and
is
afraid
of
the
dark.
"I
told
my
director
that
if
there
is
any
other
unplanned
sound
effect
during
the
shooting,
I
shall
immediately
get
into
my
car
and
leave.
For
a
person
like
me,
doing
a
horror
film
is
a
big
horror,
and
when
I
watched
the
movie
after
its
completion,
I
was
really
scared," laughed
Sai
Dharam
tej.
He
also
spilled
some
beans
on
a
few
lesser-known
details
of
Virupaksha.
Take
a
look
at
them
here:
1)
The
story
was
narrated
to
Sai
Dharam
Tej
first,
and
he
was
the
only
choice
for
debut
director
Karthik
Dandu.
However,
the
movie
was
narrated
to
SDT
way
back
in
2019.
2)
Sai
Dharam
Tej
is
a
person
who
avoids
horror
films.
When
he
was
informed
that
a
director
from
Sukumar's
camp
will
narrate
a
story,
Sai
Dharam
Tej
thought
it
would
be
something
along
the
lines
of
Uppena,
Aarya,
and
is
definitely
going
to
be
a
love
story.
3)
Putting
aside
my
fear
of
dark
and
ghostly
ambiance,
there
was
a
scene
that
needs
to
be
shot
inside
a
cave
on
me
and
Ajay.
It
was
dark
and
smokey.
We
were
then
given
lanterns
(Kaagada)
to
hold
while
filming
the
scene,
which
added
to
the
existing
smoke.
It
was
one
of
the
toughest
scenes
to
shoot.
4)
Virupaksha
marks
the
first
pan-India
film
of
Sai
Dharam
Tej.
Following
his
bike
accident
and
subsequent
time
to
recovery,
Sai
Dharam
Tej
made
a
comeback
and
struck
gold.
5)
The
entire
unit
led
by
the
director
Karthik
Dandu
shot
for
only
84
days
for
the
film.
Virupaksha
was
in
the
post-production
phase
for
a
long
time
since
the
sound,
visual
effects,
and
RR
are
key
to
the
film's
appeal
on
the
screen.
