Waltair Veerayya, VSR, To Balagam & Dasara: Here's A Look At Highest Grossing Telugu Films Of 2023!

The year 2022 is undoubtedly Tollywood's, with RRR starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan, under the visionary direction of SS Rajamouli winning India's first-ever prestigious Oscar award and the Golden Globe award. Continuing the success streak, the year 2023 also kick-started on a thumping note with two veteran actors of the industry coming together for a face-off at the box office.

Megastar Chiranjeevi's Waltair Veerayya and Nandamuri Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy were released for Sankranthi and with a slight margin, Waltair Veerayya managed to come out as a winner of the race. Later in February, Dhanush's Tollywood debut film, written and directed by Venky Atluri, titled 'Sir' hit the screens to a super good response. The movie secured good revenue and ran for a good number of days at the theatres.

In March, Tollywood experienced a surprise in the form of Comedian Venu Tillu's directorial debut titled Balagam. The movie which was made on a budget of about Rs 4 Crore, earned a big number at the box office with great word-of-mouth reviews. The film surprised not only the viewers but the insiders of the industry with its content and the talent of actor-turned-director Venu Yeldandi aka Venu Tillu.

The recent one to join the list of highest-grosser films of Tollywood in the first quarter of 2023 is none other than Natural star Nani's 'Dasara.' The movie created wonders at the box office even before it hit the screens. Dasara's advance sales bookings, premieres in the USA, and pre-release business worked magic numbers. The movie was also reviewed as Nani's career-best, so far, by his fans who were thrilled about watching him in a such rugged avatar like Dharani.
