Sumanth
failed
as
mass
hero
again
Sumanth had gained a good image with his excellent performance in Godavari and accepted a film that portrayed him in a mass character for Chinnodu. Kanmani, who proved himself as a director with a zeal and with innovate ideas tried to change his track and do an action film coupled with some sentiment and love in its backdrop. But Kanmani failed to give a shape to his ideas on the celluloid in Chinnodu. He tried to plant commercial elements in the film and miserably failed in giving a shape to the film and the film looked like a patchwork with no noteworthy directorial skills.
Chinna (Sumanth) was brought up by a police officer (Chandramohan). He goes to jail for murdering the police officer's younger brother. Sanjay (Rajiv Kanakala), a circle inspector, and Yamuna are the children of Chinna's foster father. Though Chinna loves the entire family very much, the latter dislike him as he killed their paternal uncle. Chinna turns a rowdy-sheeter and saves the poor people from the goons and other elements who threaten them in several ways. Anjali (Charmme) joins the upper portion of Chinna's house as a co-tenant. Chinna falls in love with her. Anjali also falls in love with him. Later, she realises that Chinna is the brother of her close friend Yamuna and his family had rejected him for killing their paternal uncle. Anjali tells him give up his goondaism so that his family takes him back into their fold. Due to certain circumstances, Chinna becomes an enemy to Srisailam (Rahul Dev) and Bejawada Naidu (Ramaraju). Srisailam's brother-in-law Ranga (Prithvi) who involved in a murder, gets death sentence. Later he tries to escape from the police and gets killed in encounter. Take revenge on Sanjay, Srisailam decides to kill Sanjay's brother-in-law (Raja Sridhar) immediately after Yamuna's marriage. Coming to know Srisailam's plan, Chinna enters the scene and starts bashing the goons. But in the melee, Yamuna kills Srisailam. But Chinna takes the blame and decides to go to jail again. Then everyone realize that Chinna really did not kill his paternal uncle, but he died in the hands of Chinna's foster mother. After a two-year jail term, Chinna returns and unites with Anjali, with which the film ends on a happy note.
Plus:
Sumanth's
performance
is
the
only
plus
point
in
the
film.
A
couple
of
scenes
involving
sentiment,
love
and
romance
added
a
little
flavour
to
the
film.
But
there
is
no
noteworthy
points
that
helped
the
film
to
put
on
right
track.
The
comedy
track,
however,
clicked
well
here
and
there
and
made
the
audiences
enjoy
for
a
few
minutes.
Minus:
The
improper
screenplay,
haphazard
direction
are
the
major
minus
points
in
the
film.
Even
the
music
given
by
Ramana
Gogula
is
a
big
let
down
and
none
of
the
songs
were
tuned
well.
At
the
same
time
the
director
failed
to
utilise
the
glamour
of
the
heroine
at
least
to
woo
the
audiences.
Moreover,
there
are
several
characters
which
were
redundant
and
has
nothing
to
do
with
the
story.
The
length
of
the
film
would
have
become
a
little
less
had
the
editor
trimmed
some
scenes
which
were
unnecessary.
Remarks:
The
film
had
failed
to
impress
either
mass
audience
or
the
target
audiences.
Sumanth
though
performed
well
could
not
get
any
mileage
through
this
film.
It
would
be
better
if
Sumanth
ignore
such
mass
characters
and
choose
roles
which
suit
him
like
that
of
the
hero
in
Godavari.
