Yamadonga - Review... Contd.

By Staff

The scenes that were lifted off the film Gajadonga were well synchronized into the film. The graphics have been used well enough to lift the overall quality of the film. NTR Jr's overall performance and his dialogue delivery are a joy to watch. Priyamani and Mamta Mohandas fulfilled the glamour requirement of the film. Mohanbabu playing Yama once again proved to be the versatile actor that he is. His body language, dialogue delivery, expressions and comedy were perfect with every move. It is for the first time in a Telugu film, that hero has danced six heroines. While Rambha had an item number in the film, Preethi Jhangiani, Navneet Kaur and Archana had one song with NTR.

Comedians Brahmanandam, Ali and Narendra Jha did justice and more to their roles in the film. The music MM Keeravani is worth a hear. His tunes for the film are catchy and have a good beat right through. The rerecording of the films soundtrack was paid good attention to. NTR and Mamta Mohandas sang a song each in the film while Daler Mehndi sand his first for a South Indian film song in this movie.

Kudos to the films art director Ananda Sai whose work on the films sets gave the film the feel that it has right through. The set is the biggest ever erected for the shooting of any film in the whole of Asia. The Rama Lokam set was constructed at the Ramoji Film City.

Minus Points

The film has lots to talk about right through. The director has only faltered with the last 20 minutes of the film. The scenes in the last 20 minutes were dragged unnecessarily without any comedy or action. But after the twenty minutes pass, the film catches up well. The director also failed to establish how a dead person could go back to Bhoolokam after being cremated and that too after three weeks. Apart from these small glitches here and there, the movie is an excellent watch.

Conclusion:

The film is a visual treat for all ages and classes. Rajamouli has done an excellent job molding NTR Jr's character in the film much like his grandfathers was and also for bringing NTR back on the screen in an animated form.
