Lovers - Movie Review

Sumanth Ashwin has been paired up with Nanditha in his latest outing Lovers, which has hit the screens today (August 15). Filmmaker Maruthi, who is known for his youthful love stories, has written story, screenplay and dialogues for the movie. This is why the film has created lot of curiosity among the movie buffs.

As its name suggests, Lovers is a romantic film with high entertainment quotient. Lead actors' performances are the main highlight of the film. Maruthi's engaging screenplay and hilarious dialogues, Malhar Bhatt Joshi's cinematography, JB's songs background score, Saptagiri's comedy and beautiful locales are other attractions of the movie. The biggest drawback of the film is that it lacks an interesting story.

Maruthi has a thin storyline for Lovers and he has created an engaging screenplay. In terms of story, the movie has nothing much to boast about in the first half and the director runs show with some punch lines and a couple of songs. This portion might bore you due to its lackluster narration, but the second half will rock you. Thanks to the wonderful comedy timing of Saptagiri.

Siddu (Sumanth Ashwin) is in love with Geetha (Tejaswi) during his school days. After he breaks up with her, he falls in love with another girl named Soumya (Shamili) and he breaks up with her too. After joining engineering course, he once again falls in love, but faces many difficulties with it. Later, he realises that Chitra (Nanditha) is the reason behind all his breakups. What happens next will form the crux of the story.

Sumanth Ashwin and Nanditha have played lead pair and they have done justice to their roles. The chemistry between the two is good. Tejaswi, Shamili and Chandini have little scope for performance and they have done their best. It is Saptagiri, who rocks everyone with his comedy timing throughout the film. Sai, MS Narayana and others have done justice to their roles.

Lovers has decent production elements and Malhar Bhatt Joshi's cinematography is the main highlight in the technical front. The selection of location is brilliant. JB's songs are very good to listen. His background score helps director Harinath to elevate the intensity of some scenes. Maruthi's punch dialogues are also one among the big attractions of the film. Other technical departments have also done good jobs.

Overall, Lovers has no story, but assures you entertainment. If you are comedy lover, then watch the film for Sapathagiri. Continue to read Lovers review by viewers in the slideshow.
