Despite having a stellar cast and an ambitious plot, several big-budget Malayalam movies in 2023 fell short of expectations at the box office. Renowned actors and high production values couldn't salvage these films, making it a tough year for Mollywood's major releases. It tells the story  young man named Kalidas palyed by Mohanlal, a motivational speaker seeking isolation during a COVID lockdown in a Kochi apartment. Haunted by voices of past residents, he delves into the apartment's mysterious past, unraveling a chilling narrative that intensifies as the story unfolds. Alone is a single-actor film set largely in one location. The film was directed by Shaji Kailas. The script for the movie written by Rajesh Jayaraman. Talking about it's box office performance, the movie failed to attract crowd to the big screen. Because mediocre screenplay was the main reason for the film's poor performance at the box office.

Basheer, directed by Aashiq Abu. Apart from Tovino Thomas, the movie features Shine Tom Chacko, Roshan Mathew, Rima Kallingal, Rajesh Madhavan, Uma K.P., and Pramod Velliyanad in the lead roles.
