This week, we have Abhishek Bachchan-Taapsee Pannu-Vicky Kaushal's Manmarziyaan locking horns with Jacky Bhagnani-Kritika Kamra's Mitron at the box office. While the first one is a romantic drama, the other is a rib-tickling family entertainer. If the content is good, both the films might perform well considering the long weekend because of the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Let's look at the box-office trend of both the films releasing this Friday-
Anurag Kashyap Goes Hatke
The filmmaker who is generally known for his dark, gritty films takes a U-turn with Manmarziyaan and tries his hand at a love story. Sharing that it's his first 'full-on' love story, Anurag had said, "It's so real and believable, yet very chaotic. Because that's exactly what love is - it's messy and beautiful."
Abhishek Bachchan Back On Celluloid After A Two-Year Sabbatical
The actor who took a two-year break is back on the silver screen and his fans can't wait to watch him on screen. "I felt I was becoming complacent in my workspace and that was the main reason why I decided to go on a break. Complacency is like slow poison. That is why I needed some time off. To just re-focus and I am glad that I did that,"Ab.Jr confessed in one of the interviews.
Manmarziyaan Box Office Prediction
As per a Koimoi report, the opening day for Manmarziyaan could be in the range of Rs 2.75 to 3.50 crore thereby emerging the biggest opener till date for an Anurag Kashyap film. If the film manages to please both the audience and the critics, it might come close to 15 crore mark in the opening weekend.
On The Other Hand, Speaking About Mitron
The film marks the debut of popular television actress Kritika Kamra. Touted to be an adaptation of Telugu film Pelli Choopulu, Mitron too, is a word of mouth driven film targeted at the youth. The film is expected to earn around Rs 1.10 to 1.25 crores at the ticket windows. With a positive word-of-mouth, the film might get an opening weekend collection of Rs.7 crores.
