A thriller, Minchina Ota saw Anant Nag act alongside his brother Shankar Nag and deliver a beautiful performance. Released in 1980, it received rave reviews and helped Anant Nag bag the Karnataka State award for 'Best Actor'. Minchina Ota also featured Priya Tendulkar in the lead.

Avasthe

Directed by Krishna Masade, Avasthe was a gripping political drama and featured a host of real-life politicians in key roles. In it, Anant Nag delivered a solid and gripping performance and bagged a Karnataka State award along the way.

Bara

Boasting of a solid script, Bara revolved around the socio-political implications of a draught and raised some burning questions. Directed by MS Sathyu, it received tremendous critical acclaim and helped Ananth Nag bag a Filmfare award. Its Hindi version Sookha was released in 1983 and it too received critical acclaim.

Gauri Ganesha

Featuring Anant Nag in the role of a petty trickster, Gauri Ganesha was a comedy and clicked with the audience thanks to its lively punches and a funny storyline. A critical success, it also featured Vinaya Prasad and Shruti in the lead.
