The opening also places Varavu ahead of the actor's earlier best performers in terms of first-day Kerala earnings. According to the tracker, Antony had opened with ₹1.25 crore, while Pani began its theatrical run with ₹1.15 crore. With a ₹1.55 crore start, Varavu has established a new personal opening-day record for the actor in Kerala.

The film arrived in cinemas on Thursday, July 16, and entered its second day of theatrical run on Friday, July 17. Trade observers will now be watching whether positive audience response and weekend footfall help the film build on its opening-day momentum. As with most Malayalam releases, the Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday collections are expected to provide a clearer indication of its initial box office trajectory.
