Ponniyin Selvan 2 Release: Recap, Trailer, Plot & Everything About The Sequel Starring Vikram, Aishwarya Rai

The much-awaited sequel is finally set to hit the screens all over the world on April 28. Ponniyin Selvan 2, which was directed by Mani Ratnam, is carrying a euphoria around it, although being a periodic subject.

The expectations for the sequel of Ponniyin Selvan are sky-high. The filmmakers have been successful in keeping the viewers and fans of the movie occupied with several promotional materials including teasers, making videos, behind the scene footage, unseen pictures, etc.

When the trailer was released, hopes spiked for the film, which now showcases the novel's climax.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 Story

Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's literary work by the same name, Ponniyin Selvan charts the journey of the Chola King Arunmozhi Varman, who later on was remembered as the Raja Raja Chola. The first part dealt with the introduction of the key characters and how Arunmozhi Varman is saved by a mysterious woman named 'Vooma Rani.'

The sequel will unfold events as Arunmozhi Varman continues on his journey to become the King; Nandini's plan to avenge Aditya Karikalan, the backstory of Vooma Rani, etc.

The movie stars Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Prabhu, R Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Prakshraj, Parthiban, Rahman, and Lal among others in pivotal characters.

The novel was converted into a screenplay by director Mani Ratnam along with B Jeyamohan and Elango Kumaravel. The dialogues are penned by B Jeyamohan in Tamil and Tanikella Bharani in Telugu. AR Rahman worked as the film's music director, marking his collaboration with Mani Ratnam, once again. A Sreekar Prasad and Ravi Varman worked as the Editor and Cinematographer of PS 2, respectively. Legendary Thota Tharani worked as the film's Production Design Head.
