Jana Nayagan Overseas Review: Thalapathy Vijay's last film has finally hit the silver screens, bringing joy and cheers to Kollywood and his millions of fans worldwide. The political action thriller released on Thursday (July 23), promising to take the audience on a roller coaster ride filled with thrill, action and excitement.
Jana Nayagan has been making waves ever since it was announced. As the film is the highly-anticipated swansong of Tamil Chief Minister Vijay, the cinephiles are mighty excited for it. Interestingly, the movie arrived in the cinema a few months after the Tamil superstar became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu following his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam's victory in the 2026 elections. Despite being delayed multiple times due to certification issues with the CBFC, the movie garnered solid numbers through advance booking itself. While the trade experts were wary about the film's leak affecting the box office collection, Jana Nayagan is expected to set the cash registers jingling across international markets including India, UAE and USA. Filmibeat Assistant Editor Abhishek Ranjit spoke exclusively with Sriparna Mukherjee, who watched Jana Nayagan in the United States. She told Filmibeat, "The film is loaded with suspense, action and entertainment, delivering a masala entertainer for the audience. The movie is good. Although I will miss watching Vijay on the silver screen, I am excited to see him in a different avatar in JanaNayagan." There were rumours that Jana Nayagan is a remake of Balakrishna's Bhagavanth Kesari. The conjecture surrounding the film was put to rest after the director confirmed that there's no truth to it. One tweet claimed that the movie will be a treat for the die-hard fans of Vijay, who have always supported him. #Jananayagan is not a complete remake of Bhagavanth Kesari. While the first half closely follows the original, the second half takes a completely different direction, with only a few minor elements inspired by Bhagavanth Kesari. The film is set to be a treat for die-hard Vijay fans, packed with mass moments, powerful punch dialogues, and energetic dance numbers from Thalapathy. Just forget all the comparisons, sit back, and enjoy Thalapathy's one last dance (sic)," Kerala Box Office's X handle tweeted.
