In a post published on July 8, Ramesh Bala awarded Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku 3.5 out of 5 stars. According to his post, the film explores the debate surrounding the death penalty through a story set in 1972. He also highlighted the film's sharp dialogues, saying they question the death penalty, while noting that the story examines the contrast between enforcing the law and serving justice. Sharing his views, Ramesh Bala praised lead actor Vetri, saying he delivered a strong performance in the central role.
