Rohit Chandel Arrested In POCSO Case; Actor Stalked & Harassed A Minor

Actor Rohit Chandel, who is currently winning hearts over her portrayal of 'Ishaan' in the Star Plus serial Sairaab, has been arrested. According to ETimes, the actor allegedly stalked, abused and harassed a 16-year-old minor girl.

Reportedly, the actor also assaulted the girl and even hit her. A special case was registered against him under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. In addition to the POCSO Act, Pant Nagar Police have booked Rohit Chandel under Sections 78 and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to allegations of stalking and causing hurt.

As reported by the daily, police arrested Chandel from his Dasihar residence on Friday (July 10). He later appeared before the special POCSO Court.

As per the complaint filed by the minor, a resident of the eastern suburb, Chandel had allegedly harassed her by making repeated calls to her using his own and other numbers. She further claimed that the actor apparently chased her and confronted her near her residential area. As the complaint further states, Rohit allegedly picked an argument with her and even went on to abuse and hit her.

Speaking to ETimes, a police official stated, "Following the complaint, a case was registered and the accused has been placed under arrest. Further probe is underway in the case."

Who Is Rohit Chandel?

Born in September 1995, Rohit Chandel made his acting debut back in 2014 in the BIG Magic series Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal, in which he'd played a minor role.

In 2022, he took up the role of Baji Rao in Kashibai Bajirao Balla and became a household name.
