Punjabi films dominate U.K. Box-office!

This is a rarity! The first three films [as per screen average] in U.K. charts are Punjabi films. Dil Apna Punjabi has already emerged a smash hit, Waris Shah - Ishq Daa Waaris remains on the lower side and Mannat, the new entry, has gone completely unnoticed. Yet, the average is better than the Hindi films being screened in this territory. On the Hindi film front, Zindaggi Rocks has been rejected.

In Australia too, Mannat [Punjabi] has raked in dismal figures in its opening weekend.

• Dil Apna Punjabi [Punjabi; last weekend: No. 34, this weekend: No. 27]: In its sixth weekend, the film has collected £ 8,513 on 7 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 1,216. Total: £ 245,073 [approx. Rs. 2.09 crores].


• Zindaggi Rocks has debuted at No. 30 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 7,780 [approx. Rs. 6.64 lacs] on 10 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 778.


• Mannat [Punjabi] has debuted at No. 32 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 7,160 [approx. Rs. 6.11 lacs] on 9 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 796.


• Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna [last weekend: No. 48, this weekend: No. 58]: In its ninth weekend, the film has collected £ 744 on 2 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 372. Total: £ 2,060,641 [approx. Rs. 17.58 crores].
