Box Office hits an all time low

The past few weeks have been extremely poor as far as the numbers go and the business continues to slide downwards with each passing day. As many as five films opened on Friday – Aloo Chaat, Firaaq, Straight, Barah Aana and Lottery - and even the combined total of these films at several centres was not more than 25%. Yes, you read it right!

In terms of numbers, the opening of Aloo Chaat was the best; it was in the 10% - 15% range, but at several screens it was lower than 10%. The remaining films had a 5% to 10% opening, which says it all. In terms of merits, the business of Firaaq, which won rave reviews, should pick up in the coming weeks. Release position in India:- Aloo Chaat - 400 screens, Firaaq and Straight - 190 screens each, Barah Aana screens.
