Avatar gets a better opening than Titanic

James Cameron's latest sci-fi epic Avatar, which has had a wide release in India, opened to packed houses at most screens across the country. The opening day figures were at par with some of the biggest Hindi films that have opened this year. However, screens depicting the 3D version are generating better business. Titanic had set new records worldwide and the industry is hoping that Avatar emerges a major success story as well.
