Aarakshan collects 18 crores in three days

Director Prakash Jha's controversial film Aarakshan, reportedly has approximately collected a net of rupees 18 to to 18.5 crores at the Indian Box Office on first three days of its opening weekend. Aarakshan starring Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Manoj Bajpayee and Prateik Babbar, created a storm in Indian political and social sphere.

Authorities feared that the release of the film, which is based on a sensitive issue like Aarakshan (reservation) may create law and order problem in the state. Even after raising ban on the release of the film in several cities of India like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh, the film started off with Rs. 4.75 crore on Friday (August 12). Box Office collection of Aarakshan saw improvement over the next two days, the film pocketed Rs. 6.25 to Rs 6.5 crore on Saturday, whereas Rs. 7 to Rs. 7.25 crore on Sunday.

Fortunately however, the ban on the film was lifted in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday and the ban in Punjab was lifted on Sunday.
