Despite
getting
unfavourable
reviews
from
film
critics,
Pankaj
Kapoor's
first
directorial
movie
Mausam
has
got
a
grand
welcome
at
the
Box
Office.
According
to
reports,
Shahid-Sonam
Kapoor
starrer
has
scored
approximately
Rs
9
crores
on
the
first
day
of
its
release.
This
is
the
biggest
opening
for
a
Shahid
Kapoor"s
film.
Mausam,
which
has
been
made
with
a
budget
of
Rs
35
crore,
was
released
in
around
1,900
theatres
and
it
has
got
an
average
of
50
to
60%
occupancy.
The
movie
was
estimated
to
gross
Rs
24
crores
in
the
first
three
days,
but
opening
day
collection,
which
is
Rs
9
crores,
shows
that
it
will
go
beyond
its
estimated
figures.
Mausam
has
done
the
best
collection
when
compared
to
Shahid
Kapoor"s
previous
movies.
Yash
Raj
Films'
Badmaash
Company
had
done
a
net
business
of
approximately
Rs
13
crore
in
its
opening
weekend,
while
UTV
Motion
Pictures'
Kaminey
earned
approximately
Rs
Rs
17
crore
in
the
first
week.
However,
Mausam
has
beaten
this
week"s
other
releases
like
Speedy
Singhs
and
U
R
My
Jaan.
Other
two
films
have
got
decent
reviews
from
film
critics,
but
they
have
got
a
poor
response
at
the
collection
centres.
