Director Pankaj Kapoor has successfully given a biggest opener for his son Shahid Kapoor with his debut venture Mausam, which has topped the weekend Box Office chart with its collection crossing approximately Rs 31 crores net at the worldwide Box Office. Despite getting bad reviews, the Bollywood film has received huge response from the movie-goers.
Mausam, which is described as epic love story, was released in nearly 2000 theatres in India as well as overseas. Shahid-Sonam Kapoor starrer has got an outstanding opening weekend at the box office. The film has grossed Rs 33.5 crore in India (net collection Rs 23.5 crore) and Rs 7.5 crore overseas in its opening weekend.
Mausam is not only a biggest opener for Shahid but also a biggest release for him in terms of print count and screens. Although it has collected huge amount, the number is said to be below the mark when compared to its number of theatres and screens. It debuted with Rs 9 crores on the opening day and its business slided downwards on Saturday, but it showed escalation on Sunday. The business trends indicate a decline on weekdays.
