Gautham
Menon's
latest
release
Ek
Deewana
Tha,
which
opened
in
theatres
on
17th
February,
had
a
terrible
first
weekend
at
the
Box
Office.
The
movie
has
been
beaten
by
the
previous
week's
release
Ek
Main
Aur
Ekk
Tu
at
the
collection
centres
in
India.
Despite
seeing
substantial
decline
in
the
business,
EMAET
has
topped
the
collection
chart.
Ekk
Deewana
Tha,
which
stars
Prateik
Babbar
and
Amy
Jackson
in
the
leads,
opened
to
a
very
low
response.
The
movie
registered
5-10%
occupancy
in
collection
centres
across
the
country.
It
collected
Rs
1.03
crore
on
the
first
day.
Its
business
witnessed
around
15%
increase
on
the
following
day.
The
movie
added
Rs
1.19
crore
on
Saturday
and
1.34
crore
on
Sunday
to
its
total
first
weekend
collection
Rs
3.56
crores
at
the
Box
Office.
The
makers
of
movie
Ek
Deewana
Tha
had
done
an
extensive
promotion
for
it,
but
the
movie
received
unfavourable
reviews
from
the
film
critics,
which
may
be
one
big
reason
for
its
poor
collection
at
the
Box
Office.
Another
possible
reason
is
that
previous
week's
release
Ek
Main
Aur
Ekk
Tu
is
giving
it
a
tough
competition.
However,
Ek
Main
Aur
Ekk
Tu
witnessed
substantial
decline
in
its
business
at
the
Box
Office.
In
the
second
weekend,
the
romantic
thriller
added
Rs
5
crore
to
its
10-day
total
Rs
37.75
cr
nett.
It
collected
Rs
1
crore
on
Friday,
Rs
1.5
crore
on
Saturday
and
Rs
2.5
crore
on
Sunday.
