Housefull 2 rakes in Rs 43.5 cr at Box Office in first weekend

Akshay Kumar's latest Bollywood movie Housefull 2 has a fabulous opening at Box Office on Friday. The movie topped the domestic business chart by earning Rs 43.5 crores nett at collections centres in the first weekend. This happens to be the next biggest earner in the year 2012 after Agneepath.

Housefull 2 has set a new record by releasing in nearly 3,000 screens across the country. The movie registered 90 to 100% occupancy in both multiplexes and single screens on the first day of its release. It earned Rs 14 crores nett, which is the second highest first day collection in 2012.

Following IPL matches, the multi-starrer movie saw slight downfall in its collection on the second day and grossed Rs 13 crores nett. But the film witnessed improvements in its business on Sunday. It added another Rs 16.5 crores nett to its first weekend total Rs 43.5 crores nett.

However, the big plus point of the movie Housefull 2 is that it features popular stars like Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh, Shreyas Talpade, Asin, Jacqueline Fernandez in the cast. Secondly, it had massive promotional activities. But it attracted average reviews, which proved to be a big blow for its collection.
