Sridevi's English Vinglish first week collection at Box Office

Sridevi's English Vinglish, which is a female-centric movie, has concluded the first week with wonderful collection at the Box Office in India. The Gauri Shinde directed film has raked Rs 21 crores nett at the domestic business centres in seven days. But it has failed to beat previous week's release OMG Oh My God, which has topped the collection chart, while this landed in the second place.

English Vinglish opened to a poor response in the morning and matinee shows on Friday with its occupancy ranging between 15% and 20%. But the movie bagged rave reviews from film critics and a positive word of mouth spread, thereby boosting its business in the evening shows on the opening day of its release.

The Sridevi starrer collected Rs 2.51 crores nett at the domestic Box Office on the first day. The business of English Vinglish doubled up on Saturday and it further showed a big jump on Sunday. It collected Rs 13.28 crores nett in the first weekend and its breakup is Rs 2.51 cr on Fri, Rs 4.5 cr on Sat and Rs 6.27 cr on Sun.

English Vinglish had a steep fall in its business on Monday, but it was not much low when compared to its opening day collection. The business of the film continued to dip throughout the week and it added Rs 7.6 crores nett to its first week total Rs 21 crores nett. The breakup of its weekdays' collection is Rs 2.05 cr on Mon, Rs 2 cr on Tue, Rs 1.9 cr on Wed and Rs 1.7 on Thu.
