Late
Yash
Chopra's
last
directorial
venture
Jab
Tak
Hai
Jaan
starring
Shahrukh
Khan,
Katrina
Kaif
and
Anushka
Sharma
in
leads,
has
opened
to
an
overwhelming
response
and
done
wonderful
collection
at
the
Box
Office
on
the
first
day.
It
has
also
overtaken
another
new
release
Son
Of
Sardar.
But
it
has
failed
to
beat
the
opening
day
business
record
of
Salman
Khan's
recent
release
Ek
Tha
Tiger.
Ek
Tha
Tiger,
starring
Salman
Khan
and
Katrina
Kaif
in
leads,
was
produced
under
the
banner
of
YRF
and
released
on
August
15.
The
romantic
action
movie
had
registered
100%
occupancy
in
both
single
screens
and
multiplexes
and
collected
Rs
32.92
crores
at
the
domestic
Box
Office
on
the
first
day.
This
is
the
highest
opening
day
collection
in
the
history
of
Indian
cinema
so
far.
Jab
Tak
Hai
Jaan,
which
is
also
produced
under
the
banner
of
YRF,
was
released
on
2500+
screens
in
the
country
on
November
13.
This
much-anticipated
romance
drama
was
expected
to
smash
the
opening
day
record
of
Ek
Tha
Tiger.
Although
Shahrukh-Katrina
starrer
registered
100%
occupancy,
it
has
fallen
back
in
crossing
this
record.
On
the
first
day,
it
has
raked
in
Rs
15.23
crores
nett,
which
is
not
even
half
of
the
opening
day
collection
of
Ek
Tha
Tiger.
However,
Ek
Tha
Tiger
has
surpassed
Rs
100
crore
mark
at
the
desi
Box
Office
in
five
day
extended
weekend.
Now,
it
should
be
seen
whether
Jab
Tak
Hai
Jaan
would
be
able
to
cross
this
mark
in
six-day
extended
weekend.
