Karan
Johar's
movie
Student
of
the
Year
starring
newcomers
like
Siddharth
Malhotra,
Alia
Bhatt
and
Varun
Dhawan
in
leads,
has
concluded
the
first
week
with
an
excellent
collection
at
the
Box
Office
in
India.
The
much-hyped
film
has
collected
approximately
Rs
51
crores
nett
at
the
domestic
collection
centres
in
seven
days.
It
has
become
the
latest
movie
to
enter
the
league
of
fastest
50
crore
grosser
of
2012.
Student
of
the
Year,
which
hit
over
1,400
screens
across
the
country
on
19
October,
received
100%
occupancy
in
both
single
screens
and
multiplexes
on
Friday.
A
positive
word
of
mouth
took
its
collection
upwards
on
the
following
days.
It
collected
approximately
Rs
31
crores
at
the
domestic
Box
Office
in
the
first
weekend.
Its
breakup
is
Rs
9.25
cr
on
Fri,
Rs
10.25
cr
on
Sat
and
Rs
11.5
cr
on
Sun.
The
business
of
the
film
Student
of
the
Year
went
down
by
50%
on
the
weekdays,
but
its
collection
looked
very
decent
when
compared
to
many
biggies
of
2012.
Thanks
to
Dussehra
holidays.
The
movie
added
approximately
Rs
21
crores
to
its
first
week
total
Rs
52
crores
at
the
Box
Office.
Its
breakup
is
Rs
4.5
cr
on
Mon,
Rs
5.5
cr
on
Tue,
Rs
6
cr
on
Wed
and
Rs
5
cr
on
Thu.
However,
Karan
Johar
has
already
scored
two
big
hits
with
Agneepath
and
Ek
Main
Aur
Ekk
Tu.
The
filmmaker
has
had
a
hat-trick
success
with
Student
of
the
Year.
Trade
experts
expected
this
film
to
cross
Rs
60
crore
mark
at
the
domestic
Box
Office
in
the
first
week,
but
its
business
was
affected
by
Prakash
Jha's
latest
directorial
venture
Chakravyuha,
which
hit
the
screens
on
Wednesday,
October
24.
