Bhaag Milkha Bhaag - Second Highest Grosser Of 2013

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (BMB) has continued its successful run at the Indian Box Office in the third week. The Farhan Akhtar starrer has crossed Rs 100 crore mark in the domestic mark in the third weekend. While Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani remains as the highest grosser movie of 2013, the Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra-directed biopic has landed in the second place, pushing down Saif Ali Khan's Race 2 to the third spot.

The biopic on The Flying Sikh Milkha Singh, which released along with two other films like Sixteen and Boys Toh Boys Hain on July 12, received very good response at the paid previews on Thursday evening. On Friday morning, the movie started on an average note with 40% to 45% occupancy, but witnessed a massive growth in business over the weekend.


Bhaag Milkha Bhaag maintained rock steady throughout the week. It collected Rs 53.49 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the first week. Its breakup was Rs 1.05 cr on Thu previews, Rs 8.50 cr on Fri, Rs 11 cr on Sat, Rs 12.80 cr on Sun, Rs 5.70 cr on Mon, Rs 5.32 cr on Tue, Rs 4.82 cr on Wed and Rs 4.30 cr on Thu.

Despite facing tough feat from new releases D-Day and Ramaiya Vastavaiya, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag continued its success run at the ticket counters and topped the desi business chart in the second week. It added Rs 26.1 crores nett to its 14-day-domestic total Rs 79.79 crores nett. Its breakup was Rs 4 cr on Fri, Rs 5.80 cr on Sat, Rs 6.75 cr on Sun, Rs 2.85 on Mon, Rs 2.45 cr on Tue, Rs 2.25 cr on Wed and Rs 2 on Thu.

In the third week, four new movies like Bajatey Raho, Nasha, Issaq and Luv U Soniyo graced the screens to compete with the Farhan Akhtar starrer. Undeterred Bhaag Milkha Bhaag remained rock-steady beating the new releases. In this week, the movie got tax exemption from a few state governments like Delhi, Maharashtra, MP, Goa, Haryana and UP, which boasted its collection.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag collected Rs 17.31 crores at the Indian Box Office in the third week, taking its 21-day domestic total Rs 97.1 crores nett. Trade experts had predicted that the Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra-directed biopic would cross Rs 100 crore mark in the third week, the movie fell short by Rs 3.1 crores.

In the fourth weekend, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag clashed with two new releases like BA Pass and Rabba Main Kya Karoon. In the fourth weekend, it has added Rs 7.90 crores to its 24-day domestic total Rs 104 crores nett. Its third weekend breakup is Rs 1.30 cr on Fri, Rs 2.6 cr on Sat and Rs 3 cr on Sun. It has become the second highest grosser Hindi film of 2013, beating Race 2, which was earlier holding this position with its life-time collection Rs 100.45 crores nett.
