All Time Collection: Chennai Express Beats 3 Idiots At Box Office

Forty eight days have passed since the release of Chennai Express, which will complete 50 days at several screens across the globe. While the craze for it died down long back in the domestic market, the Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer is still having a good time at key international centres like UK, USA and UAE. It has beaten the lifetime collection record of Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots, which was holding all time highest grosser at the worldwide Box Office.

Blockbuster film 3 Idiots, which had hit the screens on December 25, 2009, was the highest grosser in domestic market with its collection surpassing Rs 202 crores nett (Rs 269 crore gross) at the Indian Box Office in five weeks. The Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Madhavan, Sharman and Omi starrer had raked in Rs 118 crores ($25 million) at the overseas Box Office in its lifetime. It was the first movie to cross Rs 100 crore mark at the international market.

Chennai Express has smashed both domestic and international collection record of 3 Idiots. The Rohit Shetty-directed flick has raked in Rs 226 crores nett (Rs 301 crores gross) at the Indian Box Office and Rs 119 crores nett ($19 million) at the international Box Office in 45 days. Chennai Express was released in 3,500+ screens across India on August 8 and it had a rocking run for four weeks in domestic market. The action comedy has raked in Rs 226 crores nett (Rs 301 crores gross) at the Indian Box Office in five weeks.

Chennai Express Collection In USA

Chennai Express had released on 196 screens in the America and Canada on August 9 and has collected Rs 33.18 crores ($52,94,853) at the USA Box Office in 45 days. The film is still being screened in 20 cinema halls in the country.

Chennai Express Collection In UK

The Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer had released in 126 screens in the UK on August 9 and has collected Rs 21.82 crores (£21,72,380) at the UK Box Office in 45 days. The movie is still running in 5 screens in the country.

Chennai Express Collection In UAE

The Rohit Shetty-directed action comedy film has collected Rs 29.51 crores nett (AED 17.3 million) at the UAE and GCC Box Office in its lifetime. It is the all time highest collection for a Hindi movie in the country.

Chennai Express Collection In Australia

Chennai Express had released in 21 screens in Australia on August 9 and has collected Rs 4.70 crores nett (A$8,00,739) at the Australia Box Office in six weeks. Currently, it is not being screened in the country.

Chennai Express Collection In Pakistan

The film was released in record number of screens in Pakistan on August 8. It has collected Rs 5.53 crores nett ($900k) at the Pakistan Box Office in its lifetime.

Chennai Express Collection In Singapore

The movie had collected Rs 2.20 crores ($3,60,000) at the Singapore Box Office in its opening weekend. Today, its collection stands at Rs 4.06 crores nett ($660k) in the country.

Chennai Express Collection In New Zealand Box Office

The action comedy has collected Rs 1.36 crores (NZ$ 2,61,916) at the New Zealand Box Office in five weeks. Currently, it does not have screening in the country.

Chennai Express Collection In Fiji, Peru, Norway

The film has collected Rs 16.52 lakhs (FJD 51,702) from 2 screens Fiji Box-Office, Rs 67.70 lakhs (PEN 3,08,216) from 39 screens at the Peru Box-Office and Rs 16.49 lakhs (NOK 1,57,498) from 6 screens at Norway Box-Office.
