Emraan's Ek Thi Daayan first day collection at Box Office

Kannan Iyer-directed Hindi movie Ek Thi Daayan (ETD), which was the solo big release this Friday, has got a decent opening in India. The Emraan-Konkona-Huma-Kalki starrer has done good collection at the domestic Box Office on the first day of its release. But its business is not up to its hype and the promotions. The film has failed to beat the opening day record of Emraan Harshmi's previous release Jannat 2.

Horror film Ek Thi Daayan is one of the most hyped Bollywood movies of 2013. Its producers have spent hefty amount on its publicity. In a bid to attract class audience, the makers have released in more number of multiplexes when compared to single screens. The movie was expected to be the biggest opener in the career of Emraan Hashmi, but its first business is not up to the mark.

Ek Thi Daayan registered an average amount of occupancy in the morning shows on its opening day and it picked up really well post afternoon shows. The movie has done good business at multiplexes in metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata. As per early estimates, the film has collected Rs 6.5 crores nett at the domestic Box Office on the first day of its release.

The movie has garnered positive response from film critics with rich ratings. Besides, the film goers, who watched the movie on the first day, are busy spreading a good word of mouth on social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. Ek Thi Daayan is expected to show a big jump on Saturday and Sunday.
