Mumbai:
Director
Abhishek
Kapoor's
third
directorial
venture
Kai
Po
Che
has
struck
the
gold
at
the
Indian
Box
Office
in
the
first
weekend.
The
Sushant
Singh
Rajput
and
Raj
Kumar
Yadav
starrer
has
topped
the
collection
chart,
beating
another
new
release
of
this
week,
Zila
Ghaziabad.
Trade
experts
say
that
it
is
an
excellent
opening
for
a
film
that
does
not
boast
of
star
names.
Having
fantastic
pre-release
promotion,
Kai
Po
Che,
which
released
in
1,000
screens
in
India
on
February
22,
registered
very
good
occupancy
at
the
multiplexes
in
major
cities
like
Mumbai,
Ahmedabad,
Pune,
Delhi-NCR,
Gurgaon,
Chandigarh,
Kolkata,
Indore,
Bhopal,
Jaipur
and
Bangalore,
when
compared
to
the
single
screens,
where
it
had
an
average
amount
of
footfalls.
Youth
are
the
one,
who
seemed
to
be
the
most
impressed
by
the
film.
As
expected,
Kai
Po
Che
showed
a
big
jump
on
Saturday.
Its
business
was
almost
doubled
in
Kolkata,
Bangalore,
Mumbai,
Pune,
Delhi
and
it
had
a
huge
growth
in
other
places.
The
movie
showed
a
massive
growth
on
Sunday
too.
It
has
collected
approximately
Rs
18.10
crores
nett
in
the
first
weekend.
Its
breakup
is
Rs
4.50
cr
on
Fri,
Rs
6.25
cr
on
Sat
and
Rs
7.35
cr
on
Sun.
However,
many
had
thought
that
Kai
Po
Che
would
stoop
down
before
Zila
Ghaziabad,
which
stars
leading
actors
like
Sanjay
Dutt,
Arshad
Warsi
and
Vivek
Oberoi,
but
the
latter
got
eclipsed
by
the
Kai
Po
Che
wave
across
major
circuits.
