Filmmaker
Vishal
Bhardwaj's
much-awaited
movie
Matru
Ki
Bijlee
Ka
Mandola
(MKBKM)
has
done
a
decent
collection
at
the
Indian
Box
Office
on
the
first
day
of
its
release.
The
Imran
Khan
and
Anushka
Sharma
starrer
was
expected
to
get
better
opening,
but
it
was
affected
by
Punjabi
film
Saadi
Love
Story
in
North
and
Tamil
flick
Alex
Pandian
and
Telugu
movies
Naayak
and
Seethamma
Vakitlo
Sirimalle
Chettu
in
South
India.
Due
to
release
of
big-budget
regional
movies,
Matru
Ki
Bijlee
Ka
Mandola
had
a
lackluster
start.
The
movie
had
a
very
poor
amount
of
footprints
at
the
single
screens,
while
it
registered
slightly
better
occupancy
at
multiplexes
across
the
country.
Overall,
is
occupancy
was
below
the
mark
in
the
morning
shows.
Matru
Ki
Bijlee
Ka
Mandola
bagged
mixed
reviews
from
film
critics
and
word
of
mouth
was
expected
to
take
its
business
upwards
in
the
afternoon
and
evening
shows.
But
the
movie
did
not
show
much
improvement
in
its
collection.
The
romantic
comedy,
which
was
released
in
1,850
screens
in
the
country,
has
raked
in
Rs
7.02
crores
at
the
domestic
Box
Office
from
its
previews
and
screening
on
the
first
day.
However,
Matru
Ki
Bijlee
Ka
Mandola
has
beaten
the
first
day
collection
record
of
Imran
Khan's
last
release
Ek
Main
Aur
Ekk
Tu
(EMAET),
which
had
raked
in
Rs
5.5
crores
at
the
domestic
Box
Office
on
its
opening
day
in
the
country.
The
movie
will
have
to
show
a
big
growth
on
Saturday
and
Sunday,
if
it
has
to
stay
float.
